My Blog

A year on...
I know I said I was going to update this blog more often but that didn't really happen..
Well, my 3rd and final year has come to an end, I have pictures of the final show which will be up soon as well as the project in my portfolio section.
I have been working on a number of projects over the past year, please stay tuned details and examples will follow in the coming weeks...

Finished.
Well, the show is on and I am offically finished (just a couple of bits left to hand in). I now have until late September (presuming I get the grades to go back) to do some freelance and.. well, nothing I guess.
As promised here is a picture of my show hanging up, the picture is nothing exciting, i'll get a few more pictures up ASAP but feel free to take a look. I'm slightly miffed that nobody mentioned the amazing mousepad that I went through so much trouble to get printed though...
I'll post another update soon with details of the projects I intend to do / take on over the summer.

Overdue Update
Wow, I should really update this blog more often.

I have now completed the project mentioned in my last post which was to "create a product to be sold online and design the website to sell the product" although I changed my mind and used PHP and MySQL rather than ASP. You can see the website functioning at www.babytops.co.uk (it works so don't buy anything because I'll be forced to keep your money).

My life has been consumed over the past few months will my Final Major Project (FMP; as my tutors like to refer to it). The idea of the FMP is to create your own brief rather than having one set, so people are coming up with all sorts of ideas. I enjoyed the Atari brief and decided I'd like to do a similar brief by myself. So the brief I set myself was to create a games console and website. I came up with the idea of brining SEGA back into the console market and created the "SEGA LUDUS" (Ludus being Latin for 'Play' or 'Game' depending on the context). I'll stick the whole project in my portfolio after the show (June 19th) I might even have some photos of my display.

Aside from college work I have now finished the Salvation Army CMS website, this can be seen in my portfolio. I am also continuing work on a company's ecommerce website but I don't want to say too much about that until it's finished.

I haven't yet launched my joke site www.yourfriendsucks.com because I have been much too busy with other work but hopefully with me having 2 months off in the summer I'll find time to launch it.

That's pretty much it; I'll post another update after my final show hopefully with pictures.

Welcome to my blog

This is a very simple blog I created to keep you all informed of my goings on.
As you'll notice I have completely re-designed my website for two main reasons.

  1. I was having a lot of trouble with spam bot attacks on the old website.
  2. I decided it was time for a new layout and I also changed to a pure CSS layout.
(minus the portfolio page for the time being).
A lot has happend over the past few months. I have taken on the construction of a Salvation Army Band website (which is in my portfolio in its current unfinished state). I have created a joke website ( www.yourfriendsucks.com ) which uses PHP and MySQL to insert names into embarassing news stories which can then be emailed around the world. I hope to have this live in a week or two (it's in my portfolio now).
ClanTactics.com has taken a back seat due to content being so hard to get ahold of, though the design is complete and you can see that in my portfolio.
The most recent college project has been to design and market games console for Atari, within my group I was responsible for the creation of the website which can be seen in my portfolio.
The next project (which I am very much looking forward to) is to create a product to be sold online and design the website to sell the product which will also need a live payment gateway, I have chosen baby t-shirts and will be using CSS and ASP to develop the website.
I hope you like the new design, please feel free to make any comments here.
